Granola is a delicious way to start your morning off, especially when it’s fresh homemade granola.
- 1.5 cups brown sugar
- 6 cups old fashion steel cut oats
- 12 oz wheat germ
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup canola oil
- 1 tsp vanilla or maple extract
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 Tbsp raw honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- Can add: walnuts, coconut, etc.
Dissolve brown sugar in 1/3 cup of water in large saucepan. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Cool slightly and add 1 tsp extract. A syrup will be created. Mix in large bowl all dry ingredients. Warm oil slightly, add 1 tsp vanilla and 2 Tbsp raw honey. Pour syrup over dry ingredients and mix well. Add warmed oil. Mix thoroughly. Pour mixture on 2 large baking sheets. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours, turning every 30-45 minutes. Cool and store in sealed container.
