Today I sat down with our sports conditioning specialist, Ashley Stein to dicuss her sports career, her education and the time she has spent with us at FITLIFE Health Systems. Ashley was an outstanding athlete in both high school and college. Her athletic endeavors at Horizon High School included cross country, soccer and track & field, earning varsity letters in all sports by her senior year. Ashley’s time on the athletic fields at Horizon culminated with Female Athlete of the Year award! After graduating from Horizon in 2012 she accepted a soccer scholarship to Paradise Valley Community College where she played for two years. During those two years the Pumas went to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division 1 Women’s Soccer tournament twice and was a National Champion her Freshman year. Ashley played both left back, right and center midfield, as well as, forward. She was awarded 2nd team All American both years by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. During her Sophmore year she was recognized as the Student Athlete of the Year and received the Distinguished Leadership Award. Her academic path was focused in Exercise and Wellness and she knew she would be attending Arizona State University for her final two years. Soccer was fun, but she was tired of the grind of playing and studying so she decided to focus her energy towards her career goals.
Ashley attended ASU from 2014-2016 in the College of Health earning a B.S. in Exercise Wellness, graduating with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude. In the spring of her senior year she was accepted and completed the highly sought internship at FITLIFE Health Systems, Inc. Just kidding! Lucky for us she did contact us looking for an internship site that enabled her to complete her degree and she did a fantastic job! After graduation she was looking for employment and the timing was perfect for us, as former FITLIFE Exercise Physiologist Craig Alderson was leaving for the Director of Sales position with Athalonz.
Ashley started part time at FITLIFE in June of 2016 as she was also the Assistant Coach for PVCC Women’s Soccer Program. That fall she passed the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s demanding exam to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Her role expanded in December as she accepted a full time position. Her current position includes working with clients, Social Media marketing and Sports Performance Director.
Ashley is a valued component of FITLIFE and is a highly regarded professional in the field. She continues her education today pursuing her Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Sports Business at Grand Canyon University.
I hope you have enjoyed and learned more about Ashley today and if you ask her about her beloved Steelers, hope you have a few minutes…
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
